A United Ireland and a New Republic! "We need a mighty movement across this land to reach our goal of freedom and unity." (Martin McGuinness) 8.4.2012 | Sinn Féin News
Martin McGuinness Easter Sunday address 2012 – Drumboe, Co. Donegal:
"I thank the Republicans of County Donegal for the opportunity to address you on this the 96th anniversary of the Easter Rising of 1916. It is a privilege to join with you as we recall the Proclamation of the Irish Republic and pay tribute to all those who have given their lives in the cause of Irish freedom. We make no distinction between the men and women of 1916 and the men and women of 1981. We honour equally the Republicans who fell in the years of struggle 1916 to 1923 and those who gave their lives in our own era since 1969.

"The Bloody Sunday families, who are the moral authority on Bloody Sunday issues, are not organising or
supporting a march in January 2012. This is in line with their decision in January 2011 that, given
that ...their long campaign had been successfully concluded, there would be no further annual marches,
though the annual commemoration would continue in all other respects. This was supported by the people
of Derry at the last march in January 2011. We ask those who have supported us in the past to now give
their active support, as we do, to others still fighting their campaigns for justice by, for instance,
supporting the Ballymurphy families’ march in August. Others may organise a march on Sunday 29 January,
but we have no involvement in that and it is not led by the Bloody Sunday families.”

North of Ireland, August 2010, West Belfast Festival:
we participate in the "Walk for Truth" together with family members of the Ballymurphy massacre victims, who demand the truth about the murder of their loved ones.
11 civilians were murdered in August 1971 in Ballymurphy by the same British Army unit
which was responsible for Bloody Sunday in Derry some months later.
